Since this is a professional blog, let's talk where we've been and where we are going. What is working and what challenges lie ahead?
We continue to search for the best resources and educational practices to engage and prepare students to excel. That can be really overwelming. Often times as teachers we feel like we are running on a hamster's wheel to stay current and learn all about the best educational resources available.
There are always new resources, and I find lately that more is not always better. Sometimes, more is overload. Using fewer resources but using them with fidelity often provides a more successful outcome. Making a list of 'My Favorite Sites' is helpful. I was recently contacted by Lizzie Granier who came across this menu. My first thought was, "Yay! Someone is reading it!" She suggested another valuable site "The Ultimate Teacher Resource Guide" that I offered to share. It is a
a list of great tried and true resources, some of which I've previously sited on Curriculum Cafe - a Menu for Teachers.
Another favorite, Achieve the Core, has listed the 10 Most Popular Aligned Articles of 2016. Check it out in case you missed something this year.
And finally, I have to include a proud 'Mom' moment as this year comes to a close where I can link my personal life to my professional life. My eldest of four daughters, Jessie Rosen , came to speak to the Little Silver 7th and 8th graders about her journey in becoming a writer, "Blogging and Book-ing'. She engaged and informed our young writers as she shared her passion and her path to publishing her first novel, Dead Ringer. This is one of the things I can celebrate as the year comes to an end.
I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday. Find time for the 3 R's -
Relax, Read, and Reflect as you end 2016 and get ready to begin 2017.
