Nothing about growing a garden is easy. Gardening requires effort and daily attention. Weeding, watering, hoeing, and watchful attention. Sometimes I would find him sitting on the porch just staring at it. I'd ask, "What are you doing Pop?" and he would answer, "Watching my garden grow." My dad was one of the best teachers I ever had.
That same kind of attention is what it takes to promote any kind of growth. It's April. If our students are our gardens, how are they growing? What are you doing to fertilize and feed them as they enter the Spring of their learning year? Do you take the time to sit back and watch, reflect and then get back to work?
Here are 30 great Youtube channels for teaching on an nicely organized chart from Educational Technology to sprout some ideas.
Another site that will nourish your thinking is Bloglovin, a free newsletter that offers 20 must read educational blogs about various content and suggestions for teaching children of all ages and all subjects.
